General terms of use

By using noctok, you accept these terms of use. noctok is a personal project, designed and run by one person. The service lets you talk (chat) one-on-one around a topic (#tag), with no public wall or profile to curate. Some features (noctok2, noctok3, noctok4) are paid, purchased for a fixed term of 1, 3, or 6 months (one-time payment, no automatic renewal). If several purchases and/or promotions are active at once, only the highest level applies to the account; the others remain valid until they end, with no refund. Each purchase of a paid offer requires explicit confirmation of these terms of sale. In case of account suspension, ban, or deactivation, no refund will be due for an ongoing paid offer. Signup is reserved for people aged 15 and over (Art. 8 GDPR). Measures to protect minors are in place, in line with Article 28 of the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) and Article 227-24 of the French Criminal Code: 18+ content is automatically hidden from minors, and an alert is shown when an adult and a minor are chatting together, without ever revealing the exact age. You're responsible for the information you provide at signup and for keeping your credentials confidential. Any illegal, harassing, hateful content, or content contrary to public decency, is forbidden. A reporting system lets you flag issues; in case of abuse, an account or content may be suspended or removed without notice, with no refund of an ongoing paid offer. A moderation decision can be appealed: Click here. noctok is provided "as is", with no guarantee of continuous availability: the service may be interrupted, changed, or discontinued, in particular for maintenance. Our liability is limited to what the law requires. These terms may change; any update will be announced in the app. They are governed by French law, and any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the French courts. Privacy policy

noctok only collects the data necessary for the service to work: your email address, your username, your password (hashed, never stored in plain text), your date of birth, your gender and profile description (optional), your profile photo, the messages and reports tied to your use of the app, as well as your IP address (used to limit abusive attempts on sensitive actions: login, signup, password reset, contact, appeal, preregistration). During preregistration, only your email address is collected, with no account created. It's used to grant you the preregistration perk if you create your account within 7 days of opening (noctok2 offered free until end of 2026). After that period, your preregistration email is automatically deleted. The tags you can optionally submit after confirmation are anonymous and optional: they aren't linked to any email or account. This data is used to create and secure your account, verify you meet the minimum age requirement and protect minors (18+ content hidden, an alert shown when chatting across age brackets, without ever revealing the exact age), make the exchange between users work, and handle reports in case of abuse. No data is sold or shared for commercial or advertising purposes. It's kept for as long as your account is active, then deleted within a reasonable time after account deletion, unless a longer legal retention period applies. If a report leads to a moderation decision (block or ban), the reported content and related counters are kept in an internal archive for 90 days after the decision, to justify it and handle any appeal. After that period, this archive is deleted automatically. noctok only uses cookies strictly necessary for it to work (session, login) - no advertising cookies or third-party trackers. Under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, and object to your data, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL (the French data protection authority). No data protection authority filing is required since the GDPR reform. To exercise these rights: Click here
