Prevention and vigilance, a priority

Offering a place where strangers can talk raises an essential question: the safety of minors. While creating noctok, I had this question in mind from day one and every choice was shaped by it.
To answer it, noctok chose prevention. Informing means tackling abuses at the source. To that end, here are a few precautions put in place.
Some topics aren't for everyone. #tags reserved for adults stay between adults. A minor can't see them and has no access to them.
Chatting about a shared passion with someone older can be truly enriching. So noctok doesn't separate ages, it warns. When an adult and a minor end up in a chat, each one is informed from the start. One stays cautious, the other kind. And it's written in black and white throughout the chat. "I didn't know" doesn't exist on noctok.
A photo can say a lot, or even show too much. Photos are moderated and approved before being visible on a buddy's profile.
For all other abuses, whatever they may be, reporting is available at every level so that noctok can review and handle the situation case by case.
As a last resort, after a report, there's always blocking to avoid future chats with a stranger you never want to come across again.
Prevention is an everyday job. Every piece of feedback, every report helps noctok remain a place where you can chat with peace of mind, whatever your age.
Prevention in place, abuses kept in check, more is on the way...
